I think people are portrayed this way in the media because it is meant to catch the audiences eye and attract them towards whatever it is they are promoting. It makes it more tempting to buy certain items if the person who is advertising it is very attractive.
2. How are you affected by the images you see?
I personally am not affected by the images I see. I know that a lot of it is edited and at the same time i understand the media's reasoning behind it.
3. What can be done to reduce the amount of young men and women that are negatively affected by these images?
The media can try to portray more natural beauty with less editing instead of what they currently do now-take away all of the natural looks with makeup and photoshop. I think if people realized that more than half of the 'beauty' is fake, they wouldn't be so negatively affected.
4. What would your reaction be to a magazine cover where the subject isn’t all glammed up? Is this a possible route that society should take? Why or why not?
Yes, I think this is a possible route society would take. I think so because a lot of teens are affected negatively by the media and if one company or magazine would start to portray natural looks it could become popular. Its the opposite of what is being portrayed now which could catch peoples eye and attract them which afterall, is what the media wants.
